The attention of all the locals was gracious and wonderful. However, we stayed at Casa de Campo Resort which is "supposed to be the best resort" and that was a disaster. Many of our guest, including ourselves, had plumbing problems, overcharges, difficulties with the facilities and poor service at the restaurants. In our first 5 room/5 bath villa, 3 of the 5 bathrooms were not functional. There was AC only in the bedrooms. The main area of the villas had no AC. (the brochures are missleading) We had requested AC since elderly persons in our party required AC. After being changed to another villa, the problems continued with low water pressure, leaking roofs and water coming in under the doors after a raining storms. On a positive note, the employees were very supportive, friendly and service oriented. The golf courses are fantastic and the use of caddies is a most. The overall resort is large and beautiful but beware of "your $$$". Casa the Campo will try to get every penny you got and more, if you are not careful. We have been at other resorts in the Dominican Republic and they are great. Warning, avoid Casa de Campo, if you want to get your money's worth.
